Privacy and your information
Lee Morse, an Australian sole trader writing as Thoughtful Traveller Guides, is responsible for the information collected through this website.
Contact enquiries
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message to respond to your enquiry. Providing this information is optional, but we need a reply address to respond. Please avoid sending sensitive information.
The form sends your message through Resend to Lee’s Proton Mail inbox. Contact messages are not stored in the website database. Contacting Lee does not subscribe you to publication emails.
Publication emails
Email signup is not currently available, and this website is not running a publication mailing campaign. Publication news will appear on the website.
Technical information and spam protection
Our hosting providers process technical information such as network addresses and request details to deliver and secure the website. The contact form uses validation, a hidden bot-trap field and hourly request limits. Its rate-limit database keeps a temporary hashed network identifier and request counts, rather than the raw network address. Identifiers rotate hourly, and old counters are removed on later submissions once their hourly window is more than 24 hours old.
We have not added advertising pixels or analytics scripts to the website. Hosting providers may use their own technical security mechanisms.
Why we use your information
We use enquiry details to answer your questions and technical information to maintain a secure, functioning website. Where UK or EU data-protection law applies, our basis for routine enquiries and security is our legitimate interest in responding to visitors and protecting the service. Where an enquiry concerns a potential contract, relevant processing may instead be necessary to take steps you request before entering that contract.
Providers and overseas processing
The website uses Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Resend for email delivery, and Proton Mail for receiving enquiries. These services may process information outside Australia and outside your country, including in the United States and Europe. Provider logs and backups follow their own retention arrangements.

How long information is kept
Routine enquiry correspondence is reviewed for deletion 12 months after the enquiry is resolved, or sooner where it is no longer needed. Records needed for an ongoing matter, a dispute or a legal recordkeeping obligation may be retained longer. This is an inbox-management process, not an automatic deletion feature of the website. Deleting a message from the inbox does not necessarily remove provider logs or backup copies immediately.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can contact Lee to ask about information held about you, request access, correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Depending on the law that applies, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing or receive portable data. We may need to verify that a request relates to your information before acting, and will respond within the applicable legal timeframe.
You may also contact the privacy regulator for your location, such as the OAIC in Australia, the ICO in the UK, or your EU national data-protection authority.
Other services
The existing reader panel is a separate service with its own privacy notice. Retailers such as Amazon and Kobo handle purchases under their own policies. Following a retailer or reader-panel link does not create a subscription on this website.
